Week 20

Week Twenty: December 27, 2008 - January 2, 2009
This week we had our second ultrasound on the 29th!!! It was such a great experience (especially compared to last time)! The radiologist that did the ultrasound was the best. She was so thorough and enthusiastic. She took the time to show us each body part (besides the boy or girl parts of course because we still want to keep it a secret), and she gave us a few pictures. Enjoy...

Trying to avoid any pictures that would give away the sex of the baby! We are still trying to keep it a surprise, but it is definitely a little harder know that the doctor knows :)

I also had a regular check-up appointment this week on the 31st. It was kind of pointless because all they did was check the heartbeat and they had just checked it two days earlier at the ultrasound. It was still exciting to hear the heartbeat though! I just wish the doctor's office wasn't an hour drive each way. Oh well :) Here is a pic of me before I left for my appointment. It is also Baby Bodkin's New Years picture because my appointment was on New Year's Eve :)

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!

And of course, here is a belly pic for the week!

Also this week, we went to meet the Emperor at the Imperial Palace. He comes "out" to greet the public twice a year. Well actually, he comes out on his closed-in balcony for a few minutes, but it was a cool experience. Here are a few pics from Baby Bodkin's first trip to the palace...

Baby Development Notes:
Baby Bodkin weighs about 10 1/2 ounces now, and is around 6 1/2 inches long from head to bottom and about 10 inches from head to heel — the length of a banana. (For the first 20 weeks, when a baby's legs are curled up against its torso and hard to measure, measurements are taken from the top of the head to the bottom — the "crown to rump" measurement. After 20 weeks, Baby Bodkin is measured from head to toe.) Also, Baby Bodkin is swallowing more these days, which is good practice for the digestive system.
