Week 29

Week Twenty-Nine: February 28 - March 6, 2009
Weeks left until Baby Bodkin's due date: 11

More thing(s) that I miss from life-before-the-belly:
_x_ walking sans waddle
___ my lap
___ normal undies

I would definitely have to agree with the first answer, "walking sans waddle". According to What to Expect, "The pregnant waddle is not in your imagination, it's in your connective tissue. Those persistent pregnancy hormones cause the connective tissue in your body to soften and loosen." This causes us pregnant women to waddle, and I seem to be doing it more and more especially as the days come to an end. The other two answers don't really pertain to me... I can still see my lap and I still wear my normal undies! :)

I truly love being pregnant, and there really isn't much that I miss from pre-pregnancy. I think the only thing that I really miss is sleeping on my belly! I will be sad to see the belly go, but I can't wait to sleep comfortably again!

Here is a picture from this week. Enjoy...

Baby Development Notes
Baby Bodkin now weighs about 2 1/2 pounds (like the butternut squash below) and is a tad over 15 inches long from head to heel. The muscles and lungs are continuing to mature, and the head is growing bigger to make room for the developing brain. To meet the increasing nutritional demands, I will need plenty of protein, vitamins C, folic acid, and iron. And because Baby Bodkin's bones are soaking up lots of calcium, I have to be sure to drink milk (or find another good source of calcium, such as cheese, yogurt, or enriched orange juice). This trimester, about 250 milligrams of calcium are deposited in Baby Bodkin's hardening skeleton each day.
